Voices for Change: Designing Youth Solutions to Global Conflict

PROJECT TOPIC: The war between USA and Iran and following international issues --- LEARNING GOALS: -To understand the background and current issues surrounding the U.S.–Iran conflict -To analyze its impact on global human rights -To enhance students’ English communication and debate skills -To foster international collaboration and cultural exchange -To encourage student-led solutions and real-world action plans --- ADDITIONAL CONTEXT: Grade: 9 to 12(age 16 to 19) Suject: Social studies, English ?? International Exchange Project Proposal 1.Theme: The Conflict Between the United States and Iran and Its Global Human Rights Implications 2. Project Overview: This project is designed as an international collaborative learning experience for students to explore the conflict between United States and Iran, along with its broader global implications, particularly in terms of human rights. Students will engage in critical thinking, discussion, and action-oriented tasks through online platforms such as Padlet and Zoom. The project emphasizes intercultural communication, global citizenship, and student-led initiatives. 3. Objectives: -To understand the background and current issues surrounding the U.S.–Iran conflict -To analyze its impact on global human rights -To enhance students’ English communication and debate skills -To foster international collaboration and cultural exchange -To encourage student-led solutions and real-world action plans 4. Project Structure & Schedule 🔹 Phase 1: Online Debate Preparation (April 30 – May 10) Students will participate in an online debate via Padlet. (https://share.google/AqkHoUMTaJOXx8oMJ) -Activity: Students post their opinions (for or against) on key issues related to the U.S.–Iran conflict and its global consequences Students read peers’ posts and respond with comments “Likes” will be used to select the Best Debaters -Outcome: Development of argumentation skills Peer interaction and idea exchange 🔹 Phase 2: Live Debate & Presentation (May 15, 2:00–4:00 PM KST) Selected Best Speakers will present via Zoom. -Activity: Students deliver PPT presentations (pro vs. con positions) Live debate session Q&A session with international participants -Outcome: Public speaking skills Real-time international communication Critical thinking and questioning skills 🔹 Phase 3: Reflection & Card News Creation (May 16 – May 30) Students will create and share content on Padlet. -Activity: Write reflections on the project experience Research real-world human rights issues caused by the conflict Collect news articles and images Create card news content (visual + text format) Upload and share on Padlet -Focus Topics: Civilian casualties Refugee crises Freedom and safety issues -Outcome: Media literacy Research and synthesis skills Awareness of global human rights issues 🔹 Phase 4: Action Plan & Campaign Design (June 5, 2:00–4:00 PM KST) Final session via Zoom. -Activity: Students present ideas for solving global human rights issues Share practical campaign strategies Collaboratively design youth-led action plans -Examples: Online awareness campaigns Social media advocacy School-based initiatives -Outcome: Problem-solving and leadership skills Global citizenship in action Collaborative project design 5. Assessment -Participation in Padlet discussions -Quality of arguments and engagement -Presentation skills (PPT & debate performance) -Creativity and accuracy in card news -Contribution to final action plan 6. Expected Outcomes Through this project, students will: -Develop a deeper understanding of international conflicts and human rights -Improve their English communication and presentation skills -Gain experience in global collaboration -Become active participants in addressing real-world issues 7.
