Where the classrooms are
7 classroomsLearning Outcomes
Explain how children's rights connect to your classroom.
Listen to every child and agree on classroom promises together.
Compare your charter with charters from other countries.
Choose ideas from other classrooms and explain your choice.
Create a charter and improve it after trying it in class.
Project Activities
Learn about rights
The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) sets out the rights every child has. Read the child-friendly version of the CRC together. Choose two or three rights that matter in your classroom. Share your country, class age range and chosen rights.
Hear every voice
Ask each child what helps them learn and feel included. They can write, draw or speak in their own language. Gather every answer before discussing the ideas. Share the themes without names.
Agree our charter
Turn the children's ideas into a few classroom promises in their own words. Keep disagreements visible and let children choose whether to sign. Share your charter as a poster, drawing or short video.
Reach other classrooms
Look at charters from other countries. Reply to two classrooms with an idea your class liked or a question. Choose an idea to try in your own classroom.
Try it for real
Keep using your charter throughout the school year, not only during the project. Come back to it often, ask children what is working and update it together whenever it needs to change. Share what changed and credit any classroom that inspired you.
Skills to develop
This project contributes to achieving two of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals
This project especially promotes these four articles from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)
Live collaboration
Introductory session
Meet participating teachers and classrooms. Introduce your class and share the rights that matter to you.
Process
Share how you are listening to every child and turning their ideas into classroom agreements. Ask questions and exchange feedback.
Charters
Exchange your completed charter with other classrooms and explain why your class chose these rights and agreements. This session closes the shared project journey.
Attend one date per session, in order: Introductory session, Process, then Charters. Later joiners follow the same timeline and can catch up through the activities and project wall.
