Breaking Barriers: Empowering Women and Girls in STEM

Hvad handler dette projekt om?

This project aims to celebrate the contributions of women and girls in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) from around the world. Students will research notable female STEM figures from their own countries and create a poster to highlight their achievements. They will then present their posters in an online session to classmates globally, fostering a greater appreciation for gender equality in STEM and inspiring others to pursue these fields.

Presentation

Fase:Præsentation og formidling

In this exciting project, students will create digital posters offline before the online meeting. They’ll research significant women and girls in STEM from their own countries, discovering their contributions and achievements. 💪✨

🔍 Research Task:

Students will gather key information on:
  • Name and biography 📝
  • Key contributions to STEM 🧬
  • Impact on their country or the world 🌍
  • Personal quotes or achievements 💬

🎨 Poster Creation:

Using the information they collect, students will design a visually engaging poster to highlight the impact of the woman they chose. The poster creation process will be done offline before the live session, allowing students to work at their own pace. They will:
  • Select relevant visuals 📸
  • Structure their posters effectively 📊
  • Ensure quality and creativity
Students can use tools like Canva, Adobe Spark, or Google Slides to design their posters. The poster should include:
  • A photo or illustration of the person 📷
  • A brief biography and key achievements 🏆
  • An inspirational message or quote from the individual 💬
  • Design elements related to STEM (gears, atoms, formulas, etc.) ⚙️🧪

🎤 Presentation During the Online Meeting:

Once the posters are ready, students will present them during the online meeting. Each student will:
  • Share their research findings 📚
  • Explain the significance of the woman in STEM they chose 🔬
  • Discuss her impact on the field and her country 🌍
This is a great opportunity for students to practice their communication and presentation skills in front of an international audience 🌐.

🌟 Breaking Barriers: Empowering Women in STEM 🌟 A wonderful project led by Tr. Paola from Colombia, with the support of Tr. Luisa and Tr. Mily — thank you all! 🙏 During our meeting, students shared about the amazing work of Colombian women in STEM and science. Diana Trujillo is a proud Colombian who worked with NASA and helped build the robot Perseverance that explores Mars! 🚀 Adriana Ocampo is a space scientist at NASA who helped discover a huge crater linked to the end of dinosaurs. 🌎 Samanta Rodríguez is a young scientist who is working hard to create a simple and cheap injection for ovarian cancer. She brings hope to many! 🎗️ Ángela Camacho is a brilliant physicist who fought for women’s rights in science and opened many doors for future generations. 👩‍🔬 Nubia Muñoz is a doctor and scientist who helped find the link between HPV and cervical cancer, saving millions of lives! 🏥 Brigitte Baptiste is a famous environmental scientist and leader who teaches us how to protect our nature and forests. 🌳🌎 The message was loud and clear: Dream big, believe in yourself, and make a difference! 💪 A big THANK YOU to www.class2class.org for connecting us Jhansi Ravikumar Ambassador www.class2class.org
