Designing Our Plastic-Free Canteen Plan

Students name the single-use plastic items they see in the school canteen and talk about where they come from. The class shares what they notice and what they wonder about.

Students use a simple tally chart to record daily plastic waste from the canteen over several days. They then exchange their tally results with the partner class and compare how each class sorts and reuses plastic.

Students brainstorm plastic-free options, use partner class feedback to decide which suit their canteen best, and draw a plastic-free canteen poster or model. Students work in small groups and share drafts with the partner class for ideas.

Students present their poster or model in English to school leaders and explain one change they propose. They then share what they learned with the partner class and reflect on what they would improve.

Students draw or make a collage of a canteen tray using reusable and plant-based alternatives, then share their picks with a partner or the partner class. Together they decide which options would work best at school.
