Students will be able to identify and describe different types of household waste from their own home and compare them with waste from their partner classroom across the world.
Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of waste management by sorting household items and collaborating with peers from another country to create a shared visual representation of their local waste practices.

Waste Hunt at Home
Children go on a fun treasure hunt around their home with a family member, finding different types of waste (paper, plastic, food scraps, metal) and putting them into simple sorting bins. They talk about what they find and why it's trash.
Sorting and Drawing Our Waste
Children sort the waste they collected into groups by type, then draw or paint pictures of what they found. Teachers help children label each type and take photos of their artwork and sorted waste piles to share with the partner class.
Comparing Waste Around the World
The partner class shares photos and drawings of their household waste. Children look at the pictures together, talk about what is the same and what is different, and create a simple shared visual chart showing waste types from both homes using pictures, stickers, or drawings.
Where Does Our Trash Go?
A family member or community helper (such as a waste collector or recycling worker) visits or is shown in a short video explaining where household waste goes after it leaves home. Children ask questions, then draw or act out the journey of one piece of trash from home to its final place.
Our Waste Story Celebration
Children share their waste drawings, the collaborative chart with the partner class, and their trash journey stories with families and the other class in a simple show-and-tell. Teachers help children talk about what they learned and what surprised them most.
