Present and Compare: Our Math Stories Across Borders
Each group prepares a short slides presentation explaining their real-world problem, data, calculations, and findings, then presents live (or records a video) to share with the partner class. Students watch presentations from the other school, identify similarities and differences in how math is used in their communities, and discuss why the same problem might have different answers in different places.
Investigate, Calculate, and Present: Real Math in Action
Students work in small groups to choose a real-world math problem from their community (shopping, budgeting, measurements, or data collection), collect simple data, perform step-by-step calculations, and organize findings in tables or charts. Each group creates a slides presentation explaining their problem, mathematical method, results, and conclusions, then presents to classmates and compares approaches with other groups.
Math in My World: Spotting Problems to Solve
Students walk through their school, home, or neighborhood to identify one real-world math problem they notice, such as comparing prices, measuring distances, or organizing a schedule. They sketch or photograph the problem, write down what math they think is needed, and share their findings with the class to build a shared list of investigation ideas for their groups.
