Our Planet, Our Habits: Investigating Consumption and Climate Change
Hvad handler dette projekt om?
Year 7 - 9 students noticed that the seasons are getting longer? Or that every summer is hotter? The planet is undergoing changes due to our excessive consumption and waste. Learn about SDG#13 and what we can do to take action.

Læringsmål
Students will be able to Identify how human activities such as excessive consumption, energy use, and waste contribute to climate change.
Students will be able to Evaluate how their daily habits contribute to environmental problems.
Students will be able to Implement a real-life action to reduce waste, conserve energy/resources, or promote environmental awareness.
Kompetencer der udvikles
Projektaktiviteter
Our Planet, Our Habits: A Climate Wake-Up Call
Students watch a short video about climate change and SDG#13, then share their own observations about weather changes or consumption in their daily lives. This icebreaker introduces the topic and builds curiosity about the connection between human habits and environmental impact.
Track, Measure, and Analyze: Our Consumption Footprint
Students conduct a week-long audit of their school or household consumption (food, energy, water, waste) by recording daily habits, then organize the data into charts and identify the biggest sources of excess. They analyze how these patterns connect to climate change and carbon emissions.
Global Exchange: Comparing Our Environmental Stories
Students hold a live video call with their international partner class to present their consumption findings, ask questions about each other's habits and climate contexts, and discover similarities and differences in their environmental footprints. The exchange builds intercultural understanding and reveals how consumption patterns vary globally.
Design and Launch: Our Climate Action Plan
Students work in teams to design one real-life action to reduce waste, conserve energy, or promote environmental awareness in their school or community. They create an action plan, carry out the initiative over 1-2 weeks, and document the results with photos or a brief reflection.
Sharing Our Impact: Reflection and Celebration
Students present their consumption audit findings, their global exchange insights, and the outcomes of their climate action to the class or school community. They reflect on what they learned about their own habits and what change is possible when communities work together.
