Global Math Minds: Exploring Problem-Solving Together

Hvad handler dette projekt om?

Students from different countries share how they learn the same math concepts in their classrooms, comparing the strategies, daily problems, and explanations they use. They create simple visual cards or short videos showing their favorite math tricks...

Elevernes alder
6-8 år, 9-12 år, 13-15 år, 16-18 år
Projektets varighed
4 uger
Startmåned
September 2026

Læringsmål

Students will be able to identify and describe different math strategies and problem-solving approaches used in partner classrooms from other cultures.

Huske / forstå

Students will be able to apply intercultural communication skills to compare and contrast mathematical concepts, explaining how cultural perspectives shape different ways of thinking about numbers and operations.

Projektaktiviteter

1

Math Around the World: Meet and Share

Students introduce themselves and their math learning experiences in a live video call with the partner class. Each student shares one favorite math trick or strategy they use at home or in class, and listens to how students from the other country approach the same concept differently.

Varighed: 60 minutter
Format: Video
2

Explore and Document Math Strategies

Students research and document three different math strategies or problem-solving approaches used in their own classroom and culture. They create simple visual cards, diagrams, or short descriptions (text and drawings) showing how they solve a common math problem, such as multiplication, fractions, or mental math.

Varighed: 120 minutter
3

Exchange and Compare Math Methods

Partner classes exchange their math strategy cards or descriptions asynchronously through the Class2Class platform. Students study the strategies from the other culture, identify similarities and differences, and write short reflections comparing how the two approaches reveal different ways of thinking about the same math concept.

Varighed: 100 minutter
4

Collaborative Problem-Solving Challenge

Students work in mixed pairs (one from each class, matched asynchronously or via a follow-up video call) to solve a math problem using both their own strategy and the partner's strategy. They record or document which approach worked better for different types of problems and discuss why cultural or educational background might shape the way people think about math.

Varighed: 120 minutter
5

Showcase and Reflect: Math Across Cultures

Students create a visual presentation, poster, or short video showcasing what they learned about how math is taught and thought about differently across cultures. They reflect on how understanding multiple strategies has changed the way they see math and solve problems, and share their insights with their classmates and partner class.

Varighed: 80 minutter
