Global History: The Pain Sharing Through the Korean War

Students introduce themselves and share what they already know about the Korean War and gratitude in their own culture. Through guided discussion, they explore why historical memory and gratitude matter, and learn about the partner class's country and its connection to the Korean War.

Students research personal or family connections to the Korean War, conducting interviews with family members or researching historical records. They document findings in a reflection journal, noting how gratitude and historical memory are expressed in their own culture and family.

Students prepare short video testimonies (2-3 minutes) or written reflections that share their story and explain what gratitude means in their cultural context. They practice emotional intelligence by considering how their story might resonate with peers from a different culture.

Students watch testimonies from the partner class and participate in a live video call to discuss similarities and differences in how both cultures express gratitude and remember history. They ask questions, share observations, and build intercultural understanding through real-time dialogue.

Students reflect on what they learned from the partner class's stories and create a final piece (written reflection, infographic, or concept map) that synthesizes insights about how gratitude transcends cultural boundaries. They present key takeaways to their own class and discuss how this experience shapes their global awareness.
