Waste in Our World: Getting Started
Students explore their own waste habits and learn about the project goals. They share what they already know about recycling and sustainability, then discuss what they want to discover about waste patterns in their school and community.
Investigate Local Waste: Data Collection and Analysis
Students conduct surveys and observations to map waste patterns, recycling practices, and plastic use in their school and community. They organize findings into simple charts and prepare to share data with the partner class.
Global Exchange: Compare and Problem-Solve with Partners
Students hold a live video call with the partner class to exchange waste data, compare environmental barriers, and discuss which sustainable habits work best in different communities. Together they identify shared challenges and brainstorm collaborative solutions.
Design and Showcase: From Waste to Solutions
Students design and build a product or prototype from recycled materials that addresses a waste problem they discovered. They reflect on their choices, present their solution, and explain how it connects to sustainable practices they learned from both their community and the partner class.
