Autumn Celebrations Around the World
Students share what autumn holidays and seasonal celebrations mean in their own families, then learn about Korean Chuseok through a short video and discussion. This icebreaker introduces the topic and builds curiosity about how different cultures celebrate the same season.
Research and Document Local Autumn Traditions
Students interview family members about their autumn holiday customs, foods, and meanings, then write descriptions and gather or create photos to document their findings. They organize these materials to prepare for the gift box exchange and Zoom discussion.
Create and Exchange Cultural Gift Boxes
Students prepare a gift box with items, photos, and written descriptions representing their autumn celebrations, then receive and explore the partner class's gift box. They analyze what they discover about Chuseok customs and compare them to their own traditions using a simple chart.
Live Zoom Exchanges and Peer Conversations
Students participate in two live video calls with the partner class to discuss their autumn traditions, ask questions about each other's celebrations, and share what surprised or connected them. They take notes on similarities and differences they notice during the conversations.
Reflect and Share Learning About Global Traditions
Students create a short presentation or poster showing what they learned about how their community's autumn celebrations compare to Korean Chuseok, highlighting shared human values and what they discovered about global awareness.
