Obiettivi di apprendimento
Students will be able to identify and describe how waste products are handled differently in their local community compared to partner countries.
Students will be able to demonstrate collaborative research skills by collecting and organizing data on waste materials that are scarce or valuable in different regions worldwide.
Students will be able to analyze which waste items from their community could genuinely benefit others by examining barriers to collection, processing, and responsible international shipping.
Students will be able to evaluate the viability and impact of waste-to-aid initiatives by assessing cultural perspectives, sustainability practices, and intercultural solutions with partner classrooms.

Attivita del progetto
Waste Around Us: Local Discovery and Partner Introduction
Students explore how their own community handles waste by observing local practices, interviewing family members or neighbors, and documenting what happens to everyday items. They also introduce themselves to the partner class and share initial observations about waste in their region.
Research and Compare: Waste Practices Across Communities
Students work in small teams to research how waste is managed in their partner country and identify which materials are scarce or valuable there. They organize findings into a comparative chart showing differences between their community and the partner region, then exchange research with the partner class for feedback.
Analyze Barriers and Feasibility: Can We Help?
Students evaluate which waste items from their community could genuinely benefit the partner country by examining collection challenges, processing requirements, shipping costs, and environmental impact. They work collaboratively to create an action plan identifying the most viable items and the steps needed to make the initiative work.
Exchange Solutions and Gather Partner Feedback
Students share their action plans with the partner class asynchronously (via forum or shared document) and receive feedback on feasibility, cultural fit, and sustainability. They refine their proposals based on partner input and document how intercultural dialogue shaped their thinking.
Showcase Learning and Reflect on Global Impact
Students present their final waste-to-aid initiative, explaining what they learned about global waste practices, how collaboration with the partner class changed their perspective, and what barriers they discovered. They reflect on their role as global citizens and the real-world challenges of helping across borders.
