Este proyecto contribuye a los siguientes objetivos globales
Objetivos de aprendizaje
- Practice basic English for diplomacy (formal phrases, negotiation language)
- Develop public speaking and teamwork skills
- Learn about resource distribution and cooperation between countries
- Experience a simplified version of the United Nations process
How Does It Works?
Each country will begin the session with different amounts of Money, Food, Water, and Technology. The goal is for every country to reach at least three (3) units in each category by the end of the project. Since no country starts with enough of everything, they must trade and negotiate to meet the mininum units in every aspect.
For example: UN Mini Session may begin with plenty of money but very little food and water. Sudan may have a lot of water but very little money and technology. Brazil may have an abundance of food but little technology, while Japan may start with advanced technology but very little food or water. Egypt may have balanced resources but still lack enough food and technology, while Indonesia may have food and water but lack money and technology.
To succeed, countries will need to make deals with each other. For example, the United States could give some of its money to Sudan in exchange for water. Brazil might trade food to Japan in exchange for technology. Indonesia could share food with Egypt in return for financial support.
By the end of the project, students will experience the full UN process in a simplified way:
- Opening Speeches
- Moderated and Unmoderated Caucus (discussion & negotiation)
- Draft Resolution Writing
- Voting Session
- Reflection
