Cronograma del proyecto
Launch the Cultural Exchange Project
Teacher presents the project purpose, explaining that students will explore their own country's independence and national identity, then share this with students from partner classrooms around the world
Teacher guides students to reflect on the driving question: 'What does independence mean to your country, and how do you celebrate it?' Students share initial thoughts in a brief class discussion
Connect with Partner Classrooms
Students prepare a parcel for the other country where they put Independence Day postcards and sweets and little flags that they handpainted.
Explore the Meaning of Independence
Teacher facilitates a structured discussion using the driving question: 'Are you grateful for your Independence? Do you celebrate the Independence Day in your country?' Students share personal stories and reflections
Guide students to think about how independence connects to their daily lives, their national identity, and what makes their country unique
Students compare their country's independence story with what they learned from partner classrooms, identifying similarities and differences in how different nations celebrate and value independence
Research and Collect Your Country's Independence Story
Students begin Activity 1 by researching their country's independence history, focusing on key dates, important figures, and significant events using age-appropriate resources (textbooks, educational websites, interviews with family members)
Students gather visual materials such as national symbols, flags, traditional clothing, or images of independence celebrations from their community
Create and Share Independence Postcards
Students design creative postcards using Canva or physical materials that showcase their country's independence story, including images, symbols, and a personal message about what independence means to them
Students write messages on their postcards addressing the partner classrooms and the Class2Class community, explaining their country's unique way of celebrating independence
The class collectively prepares postcards to send to the partner classroom address provided (Szkoła Podstawowa im. Aleksandra Fredry, Cisna 58, 38-607 Poland, województwo podkarpackie)
Students also share digital versions of their postcards on the Class2Class project board, creating a virtual gallery of independence celebrations from multiple countries
Students read and respond to postcards and digital submissions from partner classrooms, leaving comments and questions on the project board that show cultural appreciation and curiosity
Showcase the Cultural Exchange
Students organize a class presentation or virtual event where they share their independence postcards and stories with the broader school community (other classes, parents, administrators)
Each student or small group presents one postcard, explaining their country's independence story and reflecting on what they learned from partner classrooms
Students record a short video message (1-2 minutes) thanking the partner classrooms for the cultural exchange and sharing one key learning about independence and global citizenship
Post the presentation materials and video messages on the Class2Class project board for all partner classrooms to view and celebrate together
Reflect on Intercultural Learning and Global Citizenship
Students participate in a closing circle discussion where they share one key insight about independence, diversity, or intercultural understanding they gained through the project
Students evaluate the project using a simple self-assessment rubric, rating their participation in research, creativity in postcard design, and respect for cultural diversity
Teacher facilitates a final group reflection on how the project connected to the Class2Class learning framework principles, discussing how they practiced intercultural communication, global awareness, and collaboration

We have completed our project and our interaction with the students from India was amazing! We learned about the Independence Day of the two countries, we discussed the history behind it and explained why we value freedom. Each group prepared a parcel and it was an amazing experience for our students to get an actual parcel from India! We prepared a bulletin board where we showed the cards from India and we also enjoyed to see the photos and videos of our friends from Jhansi's class opening our parcel. They live so far away and yet it is so amazing that we can talk to them and even send them little gifts! Awesome! :-)
