What's in My Lunch? A Global Food Journey Begins
Students share their lunch and discuss where ingredients come from, then interview a family member about a favorite food tradition and why it matters to them. This activity introduces the project theme and helps students connect food to culture and place.
Tracing Ingredients and Comparing Food Cultures
Students research the origin of their lunch ingredients, map where they come from, and analyze patterns in what they eat. They prepare findings to share with their international partner class, including notes on how climate, geography, and culture influence their meals.
Learning from Our Global Partners' Lunches
Students receive and study their partner class's food findings, then exchange questions and observations asynchronously (via forum or shared document). They identify similarities and differences in how local contexts shape what people eat around the world.
Our Food Stories: Celebrating Diversity and Connection
Students create a visual or written reflection showing what they learned about how food connects culture, place, and sustainability. They present their insights to their class and partner class, highlighting one surprising discovery and one way food builds bridges between their communities.
