Students will be able to demonstrate weaving skills by creating cloth using traditional or adapted techniques while incorporating patterns inspired by both local heritage and global partner ideas.
Students will be able to compare and contrast weaving patterns, materials, and cultural significance across their community and international partner classrooms to understand diverse traditions.
Students will be able to evaluate how different weaving designs and sustainable materials address cultural expression and environmental responsibility within their local and global context.
Students will be able to design and create an innovative woven cloth that combines local heritage with collaborative ideas from partner classrooms, then document and present it in a shared digital or physical exhibition.

Weaving Around the World: Meet Your Partner Class
Students introduce themselves and their local weaving traditions through a short video message or recorded introduction. They learn about their partner class's location, culture, and what makes their weaving special, setting the stage for collaborative design.
Explore Local and Global Weaving Techniques
Students research and document traditional weaving techniques from their own community and study examples shared by the partner class. They create a comparison chart or visual map showing different patterns, materials, and the cultural meaning behind each design.
Design and Create Your Collaborative Woven Cloth
Students sketch their own weaving design that blends their local heritage with ideas inspired by the partner class. They then weave their cloth using traditional or adapted techniques, experimenting with materials and patterns as they work.
Share Designs and Give Peer Feedback
Students photograph or document their finished woven pieces and share them with the partner class through the platform. They review and give constructive feedback on the partner class's work, reflecting on how each design tells a story of cultural exchange.
Celebrate Our Weaving Stories
Students present their woven cloth and explain the techniques, materials, and cultural influences in their design. The class curates a shared digital exhibition or physical display that showcases all the woven pieces from both classrooms, celebrating the diversity and creativity of global weaving traditions.
Beyond Local Looms: Global Weaving Techniques
Students research and present weaving techniques from different regions around the world, learning how geography, materials, and culture shape the way cloth is made. They create a slides presentation showcasing at least three techniques beyond their local tradition, including the tools, methods, and cultural stories behind each one.
