Students will be able to identify and describe what childhood means to people in their own community and in partner classrooms across different cultures.
Students will be able to demonstrate intercultural communication by conducting interviews with classmates and family members to gather perspectives on play, learning, and children's rights.
Students will be able to analyze and compare common themes about childhood experiences between their local community and international partner classes to identify cultural similarities and differences.
Students will be able to evaluate diverse perspectives on what makes childhood special and collaborate with peers from other countries to construct shared reflections that celebrate global diversity and children's rights.

What Does Childhood Mean to You?
Students share their own ideas about childhood through a quick pair-and-share activity, then brainstorm together what makes childhood special. This introduces the topic and helps everyone feel comfortable talking about their experiences.
Interview and Gather Stories
Students conduct short interviews with 2-3 classmates and one family member, asking what childhood means to them, what they love about play and learning, and what rights matter most. Students record notes or audio to capture the responses.
Find Themes and Prepare for the Partner Class
Students work in small groups to sort their interview notes, identify common themes (e.g., play, friendship, safety, learning), and create a short summary with examples to share with the partner class. Groups prepare 2-3 key findings to present.
Live Exchange and Reflection
Students join a video call with the partner class to present their findings, listen to the other class's themes, ask questions, and discuss what they notice about similarities and differences in how childhood is understood across cultures. After the call, students reflect on what they learned.
