Objetivos de aprendizaje

Students will be able to identify and describe different problem-solving methods used by students in partner classrooms to solve the same basic math operations.

Recordar / Comprender

Students will be able to apply creative thinking and collaborative teamwork to construct a visual gallery that demonstrates multiple culturally diverse approaches to solving a single math challenge.

Actividades del proyecto

1

Math Around the World: Kick-Off & Strategy Share

Students introduce themselves and share one math problem-solving strategy they use at home or in class. Partner classes exchange short video introductions or written descriptions to build familiarity and curiosity about different approaches.

Duración: 60 minutos
Entrega: Video
2

Explore & Document Local Problem-Solving Methods

Students work in small groups to solve 3-4 basic math problems (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division appropriate to their age) using their own strategies, then document and illustrate each method step-by-step on large poster sheets or digital slides.

Duración: 180 minutos
3

Exchange & Analyze Partner Class Methods

Students receive the partner class's documented strategies, study them carefully, and identify similarities, differences, and unique cultural or contextual influences on how problems are solved. They create a comparison chart or concept map showing the range of approaches.

Duración: 180 minutos
Entrega: Cuadro comparativo
4

Peer Feedback & Reflection on Strategies

Partner classes exchange feedback on each other's galleries using a simple feedback form, highlighting which strategies were clearest, most creative, or most surprising. Students then reflect individually on what they learned about different problem-solving approaches and how it changed their confidence in math.

Duración: 180 minutos
Entrega: Formulario de retroalimentación entre pares
5

Showcase & Celebrate Mathematical Diversity

Each class presents their final gallery to the school community (or virtually to the partner class) and reflects on how seeing multiple ways to solve the same problem helps them feel more confident and creative in math. Students share one 'aha moment' they had during the project.

Duración: 120 minutos
Entrega: Exhibición o muestra
