Engineering Around the World: What Do You See?
Students explore everyday structures and machines in their own communities, taking photos or making sketches and noting which math, physics, or chemistry principles they spot. They share observations in small groups and prepare 2-3 examples to send to the partner class.
Live Exchange: Comparing Engineering Approaches
Students from both classes meet via video call to present their examples, ask questions about how and why different communities solve the same problem differently, and identify common engineering principles. Conversations are recorded or notes are shared for reference.
Research and Analysis: Principles Across Borders
Students dive deeper into their partner class's examples, researching the specific math, physics, and chemistry at work. They create a comparison chart or concept map showing how the same principle (e.g., leverage, force, material strength) appears in different cultural or geographic contexts.
Design a Shared Visual Gallery
Working in mixed pairs (one student from each class, asynchronously), students create drawings, infographics, or annotated photos for a joint digital or physical gallery that showcases the same engineering principle applied in multiple ways. Each entry explains the principle and highlights the cultural or local context.
Reflect and Celebrate: Gallery Showcase and Learning
Both classes view the completed gallery together (via video call or shared link), students present one key insight about how culture, geography, or resources shape engineering solutions, and reflect on what they learned about problem-solving across the world.
