Project Activities
Global Education Challenge: Understanding the Crisis
Students watch a short documentary or read case studies about out-of-school children in Pakistan and similar contexts globally, then discuss the root causes (poverty, lack of infrastructure, environmental factors) and how education connects to climate change and health. This sets the emotional and intellectual foundation for the project.
Partner Class Video Exchange and Context Sharing
Students participate in a live video call with the partner class to introduce themselves, share their local educational contexts, and learn about the partner class's challenges and ideas. Each class presents a 5-minute overview of their community's education landscape and asks questions to deepen understanding.
Research and Analysis: Mapping Educational Needs and Solutions
Working in small teams, students research existing low-tech education models, interview local educators or community members, and analyze barriers to education access. Teams create concept maps linking poverty, lack of schooling, environmental issues, and health outcomes, then compare findings with insights from the partner class via a shared online forum.
Co-Design and Prototype Low-Tech Learning Materials
Students work collaboratively with their partner class (asynchronously via shared documents and forums) to design and prototype offline learning activities, simple visual aids, and awareness materials tailored to out-of-school children in Pakistan. Teams build physical prototypes or detailed designs of one component (e.g., a self-study card set, a community awareness poster, a simple activity guide) and gather feedback from partners.
Evaluate Solutions and Integrate Partner Feedback
Teams review feedback from the partner class and refine their prototypes based on feasibility, cultural appropriateness, and impact potential. Students conduct a peer-review session within their class and create a written evaluation document assessing how their solution addresses the identified needs and how global collaboration improved the design.
Develop a Collaborative Action Proposal
Students synthesize all learning and prototypes into a comprehensive, actionable proposal document that outlines the awareness and education system components, implementation steps, resource needs, and roles for schools, communities, and global partners. The proposal integrates ideas from both classrooms and demonstrates how collaboration strengthens the solution.
Showcase and Reflection: Presenting Solutions to Stakeholders
Students present their final proposal and prototypes to educators, community members, and (if possible) representatives from the partner class via a live or recorded presentation. They explain the educational challenges, their design process, how they incorporated feedback, and the potential impact of their solution. A final reflection asks students to assess their learning, the value of global collaboration, and next steps for implementation.
