Museum Mystery: What Will 2050 See in Us?
Students examine an everyday object without context and imagine what an archaeologist in 2050 might conclude about teenage life in 2024. Through think-pair-share, they list clues, make inferences, and discuss what objects reveal about culture and identity before selecting 3-5 meaningful artifacts from their own lives to share with the partner class.
Artifact Detective Exchange: Create, Share, and Interpret
Students research their selected objects and create evidence cards with photos, clues, and context without revealing full meaning. They upload these to the shared project space, then receive and interpret the partner class's cards by completing a curator response that predicts purpose, compares to their own culture, and asks one thoughtful question. Both classes exchange interpretations and questions asynchronously.
Correct, Evaluate, and Curate Together
Students read partner interpretations and prepare a response (video, audio, or slides) that confirms, corrects, or expands the meaning of each artifact. They then evaluate the partner class's objects using agreed criteria (represents teenage life, tells a cultural story, interests 2050, helps understanding) and justify which 3-5 artifacts deserve the final museum.
Museum Opening: Label, Build, Present, and Reflect
Students write final 80-100 word museum labels for the partner class's selected artifacts using verified information, assemble both classes' exhibits into one shared digital museum, and present their selections. They reflect on surprises, changed assumptions, and what they learned about teenage life across cultures.
