Project Activities

1

Welcome to Our Self-Esteem Journey

Teacher introduces the project purpose, explaining that students will explore their own characteristics, feelings, and preferences while connecting with children from another country. Teacher shares the project goals: understanding themselves better, discovering how different cultures shape who we are, and learning to protect their own rights and value. Students discuss what it means to love and appreciate themselves, setting an excited, inclusive tone for the 5-week journey.

Duration: 10 minutes
2

What Makes Me, Me? Exploring Our Driving Question

Students brainstorm together to develop a shared driving question that will guide their exploration. Teacher guides discussion: What characteristics make each of us unique? How do our families, cultures, and communities shape who we are? Students contribute ideas via sticky notes or digital brainstorm, then vote on or refine a final question like 'What makes me special and how do I love myself?' This question becomes the compass for all future exploration and exchange.

Duration: 25 minutes
Delivery: Brainstorm

Discovering My Unique Self

Students conduct personal exploration through guided activities: drawing self-portraits with labels of their favorite things, colors, and feelings; interviewing family members about their characteristics and what makes them special; creating a 'My Favorites' chart (favorite food, game, color, song, etc.); and photographing objects or places that represent who they are. Students keep a simple reflection journal noting what they discover about themselves. These materials will be shared with their international peers.

Duration: 80 minutes
Delivery: Photo Journal
4

Sharing Our Stories: Creating Our Class Presentation

Students organize their local exploration materials into a creative class product. Working in small groups, they create a collaborative visual presentation (poster, digital slide show, or short video) that shows their favorite things, their feelings about themselves, and their daily routines. Each student contributes one element. The presentation is simple and colorful, designed to communicate across language barriers. Students practice presenting to the class before sharing with their international partners.

Duration: 70 minutes
Delivery: Slides Presentation
5

Celebrating Our Global Classroom

Students prepare a final showcase of their learning. The class creates a collaborative mural or digital gallery combining materials from both their own exploration and their international peers' presentations. They organize photos, drawings, and quotes around themes like 'What We Love About Ourselves' and 'How We Are Similar and Different.' The mural is displayed in the classroom and shared on the Project Board. Students prepare simple talking points to explain what they learned to other classes or families who visit the exhibition.

Duration: 50 minutes
Delivery: Collaborative Mural
