Desserts Around the World Video Exchange
What is this project about?
Students research their country's traditional dessert, gather photos or simple video clips, and create a 1 to 2 minute introduction video explaining what it is, why it matters to their culture, and what makes it special. They exchange videos with partner classes during July to discover desserts from around the world.

Learning Outcomes

Project Activities
Dessert Stories: Discovering Our Sweet Traditions
Students share and discuss their favorite desserts from home, exploring why certain sweets matter to their families and cultures. The teacher introduces the project and students begin thinking about which traditional dessert from their country they want to feature.
Research and Plan Your Dessert Video
Students research their chosen traditional dessert, gathering information about its history, cultural significance, ingredients, and preparation. They plan their video by writing a simple script or outline, deciding what to show, and collecting photos or video clips they will use.
Create and Share Your Dessert Video
Students produce their 1 to 2 minute introduction video explaining their dessert, why it matters to their culture, and what makes it special. They upload their videos to the Class2Class platform for exchange with partner classes during July.
Explore Desserts from Around the World
Students watch videos from their partner class and other participating classes, taking notes on the desserts they discover. They compare ingredients, preparation methods, and cultural meanings, identifying patterns and differences across countries and regions.
Celebrate Global Flavors and Reflect
Students present one dessert from a partner country that surprised or interested them, explaining its cultural significance and how it compares to their own. They reflect on what they learned about other cultures through food and discuss how desserts connect people around the world.
