What is this project about?
"Global Reading Buddies" is an engaging project that connects students aged 6-13 from different countries to celebrate literacy, share stories, and build cross-cultural friendships. Through collaborative reading activities, storytelling exchanges, and creative writing exercises, students will develop their literacy skills while fostering global awareness and empathy.

Step 1: Introduction and partner connection

- Establish communication with the partner teacher and agree on project details.
Step 2: Reading buddy pairing
- Match students with reading buddies from the partner class.
- Facilitate introductions between reading buddies through short video messages or letters.
Step 3: Shared reading adventures
- Select age-appropriate books or stories that reflect diverse cultures.
- Organize virtual reading sessions, where buddies take turns reading to each other.
- Encourage discussions about the stories, focusing on cultural similarities and differences.
Step 4: Collaborative storytelling
- Guide reading buddy pairs in creating their own short stories.
- Provide prompts or themes related to friendship, diversity, or global awareness.
- Support students in collaboratively writing and illustrating their stories.
Step 5: Digital story showcase
- Help students create digital versions of their collaborative stories.
- Organize a virtual showcase where reading buddies present their stories to both classes.
- Facilitate reflection activities on what students learned about literacy and different cultures.
