Global Party Planners

What is this project about?

Students become "Global Party Planners" exploring and sharing celebrations from their cultures. Through structured activities and guided virtual exchanges, they'll investigate, document, and creatively share the essential elements that make each celebration special: decorations, music, traditional foods, games, and customs. This hands-on approach transforms cultural exchange into an exciting, multisensory learning experience.

Presentation

Phase:Presentation & Dissemination

Step 1: Celebration investigation

  • Introduce the topic and objectives to the students.
  • Facilitate a class discussion on the most significant local celebrations.
  • Guide students in creating digital celebration cards that include:
    • Name of the celebration
    • Celebration date
    • Three main activities involved
    • Description of two typical dishes
    • Photos or related illustrations
  • Upload the cards to the collaborative board on the platform to share with the partner class.

Step 2: Virtual festival exchange
  • Each class will present 2 or 3 selected "Celebration Cards."
  • Facilitate a round for students to delve deeper into details and curiosities about the presented celebrations.
  • Conclude the session by discussing key learnings and highlights from the activity.

Step 3: Reflection and deep dive
  • After the video call, guide students to create "Celebration Comparison Charts," highlighting similarities and differences between the presented festivals.
  • Post these charts on the platform’s board to share with other groups.
  • Facilitate a discussion for students to analyze their findings and reflect on cultural celebrations and connections.

Step 4: Global celebration showcase
  • Schedule an additional virtual meeting for students to present in greater detail one of the celebrations they researched.
  • Organize students to present the following content:
    • Activities: Showcase traditional dishes, dances, and other customs.
    • Music: Share songs related to the celebration.
    • Decorations: Display traditional ornaments and elements.
  • Conclude with a Q&A session, reflecting on cultural similarities and how these celebrations connect different communities globally.
