What Stories Make Us? Community Heritage Kick-Off

Students explore what heritage means and share a meaningful story from their own family or community, then learn about their partner class and the project goal. This icebreaker introduces the guiding question and builds excitement for the international collaboration.

Research & Gather Evidence: Local Stories in Depth

Students choose a community story, landmark, tradition, or historical event and investigate it using interviews, photographs, historical records, and community sources. They organize their findings to answer key questions about what happened, where, when, why it matters, and how it shapes their community today.

Duration: 150 minutes

Create & Share: Digital Stories for Your Partner Class

Students turn their research into a digital poster, short video, drawing, map, or oral-history recording that tells their community story to the partner class. They prepare to explain their findings clearly and respectfully to an international audience.

Duration: 90 minutes

Compare & Connect: What Our Communities Teach Each Other

Students review the stories shared by their partner class, identify similarities and differences in how both communities preserve heritage, and discuss what each community can learn from the other. They reflect on how history shapes cultural identity across different countries.

Celebrate & Reflect: Heritage Exhibition & Personal Learning

Partner classes combine their stories into a shared digital exhibition. Students present one story they found most meaningful, complete a reflection sentence about what they now understand about history, and celebrate the heritage of both communities.
