Project Activities
Kick-off: Introducing Our Voices and Accents
Students meet their partner class on a video call, introduce themselves, and share a short greeting in their own language and accent. Together they begin to notice how sounds and rhythms differ across the two classes.
Recording and Transcribing Speech Samples
Each class records short speech samples and students listen closely to identify vowels, consonants, and stress patterns. They mark what they hear using simple phonetic symbols and share their transcriptions with the partner class to compare.
Analyzing Pronunciation Differences Across Classes
Working in mixed teams with partner classmates, students compare transcriptions and decide which pronunciation differences caused misunderstandings. They discuss the reasons behind each difference and record their findings in a shared document.
Building Recommendations for Clearer Communication
Students evaluate how pronunciation differences affect intercultural communication and propose practical tips for clearer understanding. Teams test their suggestions by re-recording sample phrases and checking them with the partner class.
Live Exchange: Presenting Findings and Recommendations
During a final video call, student teams present their phonetic findings, explain the misunderstandings they discovered, and share their recommendations. Both classes reflect together on what they learned about communicating across accents.
