Students will be able to demonstrate intercultural communication skills by asking thoughtful questions and actively listening to peers from partner classrooms during live video exchanges about their own cultural traditions.
Students will be able to compare and contrast Brazilian Indigenous traditions with cultural practices from international partner classrooms, analyzing common themes and differences across diverse communities.

Project Activities
Meet Our Cultures: Icebreaker and Classroom Introductions
Students introduce themselves and their classroom through a short video or slideshow, sharing their names, where they are from, and one thing they are excited to learn about Brazilian Indigenous cultures. They also prepare 2-3 simple questions they want to ask the partner class about their culture and traditions.
Exploring Brazilian Indigenous Traditions: Research and Creative Response
Students research specific Brazilian Indigenous practices, art forms, and nature connections (focusing on the Xingu region). They create artwork, crafts, or mini-books inspired by what they learn, and write short explanations in English about why these traditions matter to Indigenous communities.
Live Video Exchange: Asking Questions and Sharing Stories
Students participate in a live video call with the partner classroom. They introduce their research findings, ask the prepared questions about the partner class's culture, listen actively to responses, and note similarities and differences between Brazilian Indigenous traditions and the partner class's own cultural practices.
Comparing Cultures: Finding Common Themes
Students analyze the information shared during the video exchange and create a comparison chart or infographic showing how Brazilian Indigenous traditions connect to global practices. They identify common themes such as respect for nature, storytelling, art, and family values across different cultures.
