Feelings Around Us - Icebreaker

Students explore their own emotions by drawing or coloring how they feel today, then share their drawings in small groups and talk about what makes them feel happy, sad, calm, or worried. The teacher introduces the idea that kids around the world feel similar things.

Duration: 40 minutes
2

Daily Feelings Journal and Exchange

Over two weeks, students draw or write about their feelings each day in a simple journal, using colors, faces, or words. The teacher collects these and shares them with the partner class, who do the same. Students receive drawings from the partner class and look for feelings that match their own.

Duration: 165 minutes
Delivery: Drawing or Collage
3

Feelings Around the World Display

Students work together to create a colorful side-by-side display showing their feelings and the partner class's feelings. They sort and arrange the drawings by emotion (happy, sad, calm, worried) and add simple labels or pictures to show what they learned about feelings in both classrooms.

Duration: 85 minutes
Delivery: Collaborative Mural
4

Comparing Feelings Across Cultures

Students look at the display and talk about which feelings are the same in both classes and which are different. They draw or write about why they think kids in the partner class might feel the way they do, thinking about their daily lives and what matters to them.

Duration: 30 minutes
5

Feelings Around the World - Showcase

Students present the display to families and other classes, pointing out emotions they share with their partner class and explaining what they learned about feelings around the world. They can also share one thing that surprised them about how kids in the other classroom feel.

Duration: 40 minutes
Delivery: Exhibition or Showcase
