Project Activities
Pet Care Around the World: Getting to Know Each Other
Students introduce themselves and share one story or photo about how they or their community care for a pet. Partner classes meet via video call to exchange these stories and ask questions, building initial connections and curiosity about different pet care practices.
Research and Document Local Pet Care Practices
Students interview family members, neighbors, or local pet owners to learn about pet care customs in their community. They record observations, photos, or sketches of feeding, housing, health care, and emotional bonds with animals, then organize findings into a shared class document.
Exchange and Compare Pet Care Across Cultures
Partner classes share their research findings asynchronously through a shared online board or document. Students read, comment on, and compare practices from their own community with those from the partner class, noting similarities, differences, and reasons for variation based on climate, resources, and values.
Analyze Animal Welfare and Cultural Sensitivity
Students work in small groups to evaluate existing pet care resources (websites, guides, videos) for accuracy, cultural bias, and inclusivity. They discuss how different communities define animal welfare and identify gaps or improvements needed to make guides work for diverse contexts.
Design and Create a Multilingual Pet Care Guide
Students collaborate in mixed pairs (within and across partner classes via asynchronous feedback) to design an original pet care guide, infographic, or illustrated booklet in at least two languages. They incorporate research findings, local illustrations, and feedback from peers to create a resource that respects cultural differences and promotes animal welfare.
Peer Review and Iterate on Partner Feedback
Partner classes exchange draft guides and provide structured feedback on clarity, cultural sensitivity, usefulness, and visual appeal. Students revise their guides based on international peer input, ensuring the final resource reflects diverse perspectives and is ready for community sharing.
Showcase and Reflect on Global Pet Care Learning
Each class presents their final pet care guide to the partner class via video call or recorded presentation, explaining their design choices and what they learned about animal care across cultures. Students reflect in writing on how collaboration with peers shaped their understanding of cultural differences and shared values in caring for animals.
