Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to identify and describe a complex concept from their local curriculum and explain the dual coding principles that make it accessible through storytelling.
Remember / Understand
Students will be able to apply dual coding principles by using visuals and text together to illustrate a complicated concept in a character-driven comic, collaborating with teammates to draft the storyline.
Apply
Students will be able to analyze how their partner classroom's feedback and cultural perspectives reveal strengths and gaps in the comic's explanatory power, and compare these with their own interpretations.
Analyze
Students will be able to evaluate the comic's effectiveness in a live video exchange with the partner class, using peer feedback and intercultural communication to judge how well it explains the concept.
Evaluate
Students will be able to design and refine an original educational comic that explains a complex concept through innovative storytelling, integrating international feedback into a finished product.

Project Activities

1

Meet the partner class and pick a complicated local concept

Students introduce themselves to the partner class in a short video call, then teams choose a complex concept from their local curriculum to explain with a comic.

Duration: 30 minutes
2

Draft the story, characters, and dual coding plan

Teams plan a character-driven storyline that pairs simple visuals with short text to explain the concept, then draft panels and share them with the partner class for early feedback.

Duration: 70 minutes
3

Illustrate, refine with partner feedback, and finalize the comic

Teams draw and polish the comic, compare the partner class's comments with their own view, and revise where the explanation is unclear.

Duration: 50 minutes
4

Live video exchange to present and evaluate the comic

Teams present their finished comic in a live video call, and both classes discuss how well it explains the concept and what cultural perspectives changed it.

Duration: 30 minutes
