Students explore and research biotechnology innovations happening in their own region, then prepare a short introduction to share with the partner class. They identify one local biotech breakthrough, learn why it matters, and record a 2-3 minute video or write a brief profile to introduce their innovation.
Deep Dive: Research & Analysis of Regional Biotech Solutions
Students conduct focused research on 2-3 biotechnology innovations from their region, analyzing the biological challenge each one solves, the cultural or environmental context that shaped it, and its real-world impact. They compile findings in a research brief or visual summary to prepare for the partner-class exchange.
Global Perspectives: Live Video Exchange & Comparison
Students participate in a live video call with the partner class to present their regional biotech innovations, ask questions, and listen to the partner class's discoveries. Together, they identify similarities, differences, and unique approaches to solving biological challenges across their two regions.
Analyze & Create: Visual Comparison of Global Biotech Solutions
Using insights from the partner-class exchange, students work in small teams to create a visual comparison (infographic, concept map, or comparative chart) that shows how their region and the partner region approach similar biological challenges differently. They analyze cultural, environmental, and economic factors that influence each approach.
Showcase & Reflect: Presenting Global Biotech Insights
Students present their visual comparisons to the class and reflect on what they learned about how different countries innovate in biotechnology. They discuss how cultural context shapes scientific solutions and share one insight about global collaboration in solving biological challenges.
