Project Activities
Biodiversity Treasure Hunt Around Mérida
Students explore their school and neighborhood to spot plants and animals, sketch or photograph them, and label what they find. This activity introduces the local biodiversity they will later share with the partner class.
Document and Learn Local Species
Students organize their collected drawings and photos into a simple labeled catalog, research basic facts about 3-5 local species using provided guides or teacher input, and prepare short descriptions of what makes their environment special. This builds their knowledge and confidence before the video exchange.
Video Call Exchange with Partner Class
Students present their local biodiversity discoveries to the international partner class through a live video call, ask questions about the partner class's environment, and compare how plants and animals differ between Mérida and the other region. Both classes take notes on similarities and differences.
Compare and Reflect on Global Biodiversity
Students create a simple comparison chart or poster showing biodiversity from Mérida side-by-side with the partner class's region, discuss why environments are different, and reflect on how people in different places care for nature in their own ways.
Showcase and Celebrate Learning
Students present their biodiversity project to the school community through a small exhibition, photo display, or short storytelling session, sharing what they learned about their local environment and what surprised them about the partner class's region.
